Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School Opens State of the Art Athletic Center
Bradenton, Fla. – Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School (SSES) in Bradenton, Florida held the ribbon cutting of the school’s new $5 million state-of-the-art athletic facility on October 23rd, 2013 with students, donors and the Board of Trustees. The grand opening celebration, open to the public, will be tonight on Friday, October 25th.
The evening’s festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a complimentary “Tailgating Extravaganza” dinner hosted by the SSES Athletic Booster Committee. The opening ceremony follows at 6:45 p.m. and the kick-off of the Varsity Football game against the ODA Thunder will be at 7:00 p.m.
The new facility, the Moore Athletic Complex at Turner Fields, will host the school’s athletic events including cheerleading, football, track and field, lacrosse, baseball, softball and tennis. It was made possible with an initial $2 million donation from the Moore family of Bradenton plus additional matching funds from our donors.
“We are so gratefulto have the tremendous community support that we have,” said Dr. Janet Pullen, Head of School at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal. “None of this would be possible without the generous donations from those who believe in our school. We want to sincerely thank everyone who helped make this possible, especially the Moore family. Saint Stephen’s offers unrivaled opportunities for academic success, and because of this new addition to our 35-acre campus, we now offer the same to our student-athletes!” said Pullen.
The Moore family’s original $2 million donation was given under the condition that the school and staff raise the additional money to fund the center. With help from the community and student families, Saint Stephen’s not only raised the needed $2 million, but also raised an additional $1 million for a state of the artfacility.
“It is with immense pride and joy that we open the new Moore Athletic Center today and I want to thank all of the people that made this happen,” said Elizabeth Moore, Saint Stephen’s Donor. “There are many of you who participated in many ways. On behalf of the entire Moore family, I want to wish great success to all the student athletes and coaches. This is our newest classroom and there are many life lessons to be learned out here: competition, teamwork, sportsmanship, striving for excellence, coping with disappointment and frustration. We will share many victories and joys; we are all on the same team here at Saint Stephen’s," she said.
The Moore Athletic Complex at Turner Fields located at 315 41st Street West, Bradenton, FL, will be officially unveiled tonight. Game tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for non-Saint Stephen's students, and free for Saint Stephen's students.
