The 13.1 mile Suncoast Half Marathon race is set to start and finish at Lakewood Ranch Main Street on Sunday, January 27.
Starting at 7 in the morning, the race will run through Lakewood Ranch neighborhoods including Country Club North, Country Club South, Country Club West, Riverwalk and Summerfiled. Vehicles will not be able to pass the Hidden River Trail as it will be closed from 5 - 8:30 a.m.
A total of 340 runners have registered as of Tuesday's count. Many of the runners were from Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Parrish. There were even others from Chicago and United Kingdom, according to reports.
The Suncoast Half Marathon has been a hot topic among the Lakewood Ranch district supervisors. They want to make sure the public is aware about the changes that will happen on Sunday.
Reports say that executive director of Lakewood Ranch Town Hall Eva Ray has said that the event coordinator have been cooperating with Lakewood Ranch's law enforcement, and that the community leaders as well as neighborhood boards have been informed and asked to spread the news.
In line with the event, the Lakewood Ranch Running Club and Gold Coast Eagle Distributing will host a free Health and Fitness Expo from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, at the Gold Coast Eagle Conference Center at 7051 Wireless Court, Lakewood Ranch.
