The 13.1 mile Suncoast Half Marathon race is set to start and finish at Lakewood Ranch Main Street on Sunday, January 27.


Starting at 7 in the morning, the race will run through Lakewood Ranch neighborhoods including Country Club North, Country Club South, Country Club West, Riverwalk and Summerfiled. Vehicles will not be able to pass the Hidden River Trail as it will be closed from 5 - 8:30 a.m.

A total of 340 runners have registered as of Tuesday's count. Many of the runners were from Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Parrish. There were even others from Chicago and United Kingdom, according to reports.

New Mall Expects To Generate $500 million in Sales.

13498180581-4-671-442.jpgConstruction is currently in progress at the location of the Mall at University Town Center which is said to become the home to over 100 stores and restaurants and a projected $500 million in sales revenue is expected to come from its retail area of 680,000 square feet.

Benderson Development has been reported to be constructing the fashion spot with Taubman Centers at the southwest corner of I-75 and University Parkway. Taubman Centers is said to be an S & P MidCap 400 Real Estate Investment Trust dealing in the ownership, management and/or leasing of 28 regional, super regional and outlet shopping centers across United States and Asia.

Lakewood Ranch - Our Lady of the Angels Parish will be having a festival at the Premier Sports Campus from January 24 - 27.

Carnival rides will be available in the festival, as well as food and local community groups have been scheduled to perform all throughout the weekend.

Here's the schedule of the 4-day festival:

Lakewood Ranch.jpgReports show that according to the recently released report by global transportation services provider Penske Truck Rental, Sarasota bags the 10th spot in the list of top destinations for movers across the US, joining other major cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Orlando, Phoenix, and Seattle.

For the past three years, Atlanta has been on the top of the list each year according to the data collected by Penske. Dallas/Fort Worth has climbed two places from fourth to second place, while Chicago, Houston, Denver and Seattle remained unmoved from their previous ranks in the list.

New Homes from Rye Wilderness.

The $2.4 million half acre lots compose Phase IV of the Rye Wilderness Estates and are said to e planned for single-family homes. Sources say that Rye Wilderness Estates sales professional JoAnn Strutt told reports that Phase IV will have luxury homes with tile roofs and paved driveway. Homesites are expected to include 2,300 to 4,300 square feet of lot. According to reports, home prices will start at $284,000, however sales of homes in Phase IV will not begin until the estimated 60 remaining slots in Phase III have been sold.
